Our program is designed to meet the needs of a rapidly evolving industry, incorporating principles of sustainability economic, environmental, social and political in tourism management and planning. Within the Department of Geography and Tourism Studies, our program examines such questions as: Can we balance the economic benefits of tourism with the negative consequences of pollution, loss of biodiversity, economic inequality and unsuitable cultural change? Work defines so much of our lives — our position in society, our economic well-being, even our self-image.
Labour Studies is an interdisciplinary field and is home to popular courses, including Labour of Sport, Labour and Employment Law, Animals at Work, and our simulation-based Collective Bargaining course. Our program looks at five key areas.
The study of Public Policy asks how policies are made and implemented in the complex machinery of government. The concentration in Public Law is a superb pre-law program for those intending to pursue a legal career. The co-op in Public Administration is designed for those who seek employment in the federal, provincial or municipal levels of government. The co-op in Political Science is designed for those with broader interests in subfields such as political theory and international relations.
Psychology is the scientific study of human behaviour, and the program at Brock offers a diverse approach to this exciting field of study. We offer courses that cover topics relevant to a wide range of career paths, including child and adult development, forensics, clinical work, personality, group dynamics and neuropsychology. Through lectures, seminars, labs and one-on-one mentoring, students can gain expertise in human behaviour and job-related skills such as critical thinking, team work, communication, problem solving, project management, research design and data analysis.

The innovative interdisciplinary MA in Social Justice and Equity Studies responds to the increasing need for individuals trained in the expanding field of Social Justice and Equity scholarship. Social Justice Studies is a growing field of study in Canadian universities and it is interdisciplinary, diverse and pluralistic in its theoretical traditions, substantive problematics, methods and approaches. The program trains students in critical analysis of social justice and equity issues as related to processes and struggles associated with age, ability, gender, sexuality, racism, speciesism, the environment, class and other patterns of inequality.
